With fourteen gold medals, eleven silver and thirteen bronze medals, Team NNPC to the 15th Edition of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) brushed aside, all other competitors to claim the Over-all Trophy of 2014 Competition, thus re-positioning itself as the giant of the Industry in the one-week energy-sapping festival.

The occasion which commenced on 23rd February, 2014 with the Opening Ceremonies at the Chevron Club in Gbagada, Lagos witnessed twelve members of the Oil and Gas Industry competing for laurels.

The week-long competition featured Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Basketball, Swimming, Athletics, Golf, 8-Ball Pool, Chess, Scrabble, Football and Match-Pass.

At the Football Finals held at the Lagos-State owned Teslim Balogun Stadium, the NNPC Football Team piped its Chevron counterpart by 2 goals to nothing to clinch the football gold medal.

The high-lights of the event included a Novelty Table Tennis championship between the Principal of PTI, Mrs. N. C. Dennar and the Chief Executive Officer of Chevron who was represented by Mr. Fawthrop which ended in favour of Mrs. Dennar.

There were Cultural dances also before the Medal awards to draw the curtain on this year’s competition.

In his closing remark, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Engr. Andrew Laah Yakubu who was represented by Group General Manager, Human Resources, Dr. Dan Efebo, thanked all the companies for sponsoring their staff to the competition. He specially congratulated the NNPC team for emerging as the over-all winner of the competition and charged them to sustain the success as the giant of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry in the future.

It will be recalled that NNPC was placed 2nd during the 14th Edition in 2012. The 16th NOGIG comes up in 2016.
